Two women who mustered the courage to ride the popular Slingshot ride last week instead felt sick and scared, only to be told they would have to endure the ride again as they were launched into the air holding back tears.
Footage of young Australians Brooke and Chloe riding the slingshot on The Golden coast It was published on Social mediawith more than six million people watching in panic as workers said “send them back” and the ride started moving.
Although the footage shows the women saying “no, no, no,” Slingshot Gold Coast management told Yahoo News that the passengers “agreed to the second ride.”
Women in obvious distress during second flight
In the footage, the women repeatedly say “no” before being thrown into the air at speeds of 160km/h, with one holding onto the other as they are thrown into the game’s motion. Chloe continues to scream as Brooke shouts, “This is so ridiculous” – clearly upset and crying.
“I’m going to sue this damn company,” Brock is heard saying as the flight begins to slow down and return to Earth.
Why were women asked to ride a second time?
During the experiment, riders are filmed so they have footage to take home. However, for some unknown reason, the video didn’t work during Brooke and Chloe’s first ride, which is why the two women were sent back. Brooke believes human error is the reason why no footage was captured of their first ride.
“Imagine the workers forgot to turn on the camera and sent you back,” she wrote online.
Many who watched the footage were shocked by the obvious distress the two women appeared to be in, with one of them saying: “Wait, this is actually not okay.”
Others found the reaction “a bit dramatic.”
“You originally paid for it and then said you would sue when you got the chance to do it for free again.. get over yourself,” said another.
Slingshot Gold Coast confirmed the women were sent on the second flight because “the first flight was not properly registered”.
“The ride simply failed to record properly the first time,” a company spokesperson told Yahoo News. “Guests were given the option to ride again or not, and they chose to ride again to receive a copy of their second ride.” The video Brooke shared on TikTok shows the girls saying “no” when they were told they had to ride again, but within a second or two, the ride was off.
