What went wrong with Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes? We’re getting more answers about what led to their latest split!
As you may know, the 32-year-old country music star and the 33-year-old actor broke up for the third time after publicly confirming their reunion over the New Year. And insiders feel it’s really over for good this time!
A source close to Kelsea told Dailymail.com on Friday that she and Chase are “through,” adding:
“They tried to rekindle and realized it is over.”

According to the insider, their relationship came crashing down “around the New Year” due to Chase’s “continued jealousy” and their conflicting life goals. Kelsea “wants kids,” but the Outer Banks star is not ready for marriage or to start a family:
“As much as she wants a life with him, it just felt like he didn’t want a future that would involve kids, marriage and the whole package. She didn’t want that right now, but she wanted it eventually, and she just realized he wasn’t on the same page.”
What didn’t help is that, as Kelsea became more and more successful, Chase grew more and more jealous, and it was “off-putting” to the Baggage singer and those around her. Ick. A partner should be supportive or happy for their significant other’s success. Ultimately, the source said that “as much as there is love there, [the breakup] had to happen.”
As for whether that is simply because of the jealousy issues or another reason, like cheating? Remember, there had been rumors for a while that Chase cheated on Kelsea. The Cowboys Cry Too songstress even hinted at infidelity this week when she commented on a song about “wandering eyes.” That says a lot about what really led to the split, if you ask us! However, the insider insisted there was “no cheating.” Hmm. Instead, they claimed there was “a lot of misguided control that [Ballerini] felt [Stokes] tried to get or take from her while also trying to ride her coattails.” Oh damn!
Because of that, insiders seem pretty certain Kelsea will not get back together with Chase. They also aren’t completely ruling it out if he makes some changes:
“If for some reason he changes, there might be another chance. But she’s doubtful and is trying to accept the breakup she never wanted. She had to listen to her doubts, finally, and take back control.”
Good for Kelsea!
