World famous hip hop artist Travis Scott made an unexpected announcement that has his fans crazy.
Travis Scott avoids charges over Texas stampede
The American rapper will perform three shows as part of his successful Circus Maximus world tour in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane starting October 17.
Shows will take place at Allianz Stadium on the 17th, Marvel Stadium on the 22nd and Suncorp Stadium on the 26th.
The tour will kick off in Australia after his newly announced shows in South America, including Santiago, Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, and will come before a final show in Auckland, New Zealand.
On Tuesday morning, the artist posted an announcement about the extra leg on social media to his more than 56 million followers on Instagram.
“South America and Australia, what do we do? I’ve been wanting to do a real tour there for a long time. Now let’s go,” he wrote.
Excited fans were quick to share their excitement, with one Instagram user revealing that he “used to pray” that he would see Scott perform in Australia one day.
Others said they had been waiting for this moment “all their lives.”
“I’ve been waiting for Melbourne for a long time and I’m coming,” said another.
But other Australian fans were disappointed that the star would only visit three cities, with some questioning why Perth and Adelaide were not on the tour.
“The typical Perth city has been left out,” one person said.
Pre-sale tickets will be available Monday before general sales begin on August 2.
Scott is currently performing in Europe and the UK as part of his tour, with over 270,000 fans attending the first 11 shows.
The North American tour included 44 sold-out stops in 2023 and early 2024, making it the highest-grossing rap tour, grossing nearly $27 million.
The music giant also became the first American hip-hop artist to sell 200,000 tickets in a single year across three shows in Italy.
The world tour comes after Scott’s 2021 performance at the Astroworld festival in Houston, Texas, where 10 people were killed in a stampede.
The victims were reported to be between 9 and 27 years old.
In 2023, a grand jury reportedly declined to indict Scott and five others, including the festival director.
Scott was previously in a relationship with American star Kylie Jenner and is the father of her two children.
