Trailer Tuesday: The Testament of Ann Lee starring Amanda Seyfried

From award-winning writer-director Mona Fastvold (The World to Come, The Brutalist) comes The Testament of Ann Lee, an audacious and deeply immersive reimagining of one of America’s most enigmatic spiritual figures starring Amanda Seyfried.

Seyfried, in a transformative turn, stars as Ann Lee, the visionary founder of the Shakers—an 18th-century devotional sect built on radical ideas of gender equality, communal living, and spiritual transcendence. Revered by her followers and misunderstood by the world around her, Ann Lee emerges here as both prophet and provocateur, driven by an unyielding belief in a more just and unified society.

Part historical epic, part musical reverie, The Testament of Ann Lee captures the ecstasy and agony of pursuing utopia, blending more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns with striking new arrangements.

The film’s hypnotic movement is elevated by choreography from Celia Rowlson-Hall (Vox Lux), transforming worship into visceral, rapturous expression, while an original score and songs by Academy Award winner Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist) give the film its pulse.

Watch the trailer and featurette now and prepare for a visionary journey unlike anything else coming to the screen.
