Tragedy as 11-year-old boy is killed riding his bike in Queensland: Family issue heartfelt tribute



The family of an 11-year-old boy who was killed while riding his bike home from school has paid tribute to their “beloved son”.

Gurmantar Singh Gill was returning home from school in Buderim on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland When he was hit by a bus on Tuesday afternoon.

Gormantar was taken to Sunshine Coast Hospital where he later died, and the funeral was held on Friday.

“Although Gurmantar Singh Gill was with us for only a short time, his spirit touched the hearts of all who knew him,” the statement read.

“We come together to remember the joy and love he brought into our lives, even in the midst of our grief.”

The Forensic Unit is investigating the incident, which occurred at about 3.45pm, when a bus travelling along Gingelik Road near Karawatha Road collided with the bike.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was not physically harmed and is assisting police.

Investigations continue, and witnesses or anyone with relevant information is asked to contact police.
