MasterChef winner Nat Thaibon has hit back at viewers who claimed Andy Allen was “unnecessarily cruel” to her during filming.
It was Tybon crowned the winner During a tense final this week she saw her win $250,000.
A significant minority of viewers criticised judge Allen on social media, suggesting he was “too harsh” on the talented chef, especially after she served overcooked lamb.
This particular dish led Allen to believe that while he had always thought it had a lot of potential, he might have been wrong about it.
Talk to Yahoo LifestyleThaibon shared that she didn’t take any of the judges’ criticism seriously and is grateful that they pushed her to give her best.
“It’s really funny because a lot of people were sending me messages saying the judges were a little harsh on me. And when I go back to those episodes, I wonder if that was the episode they were talking about or not because I don’t see it that way,” she said.
“I see it as a way to improve, and if we didn’t get constructive criticism, I don’t think I would be where I am now and Pisa would never be in the finals because the judges were constantly pushing us to make sure we improved. So I didn’t feel that at all,” she added. “But that’s me too. Because my parents, the way they talk to me is kind of the same. Even when you do well, it’s like, ‘OK, you can do better,’” she added.
Her statements came After Judge Poh Ling Yeo told news.com.au: Although she heard “conspiracies” as a contestant and that the judges had chosen favorites, it couldn’t be further from the truth.
“I can honestly tell you that’s not the case. There’s no room for anything but fairness,” she explained. “It’s a really thorough process and a really in-depth discussion that leads to the final decision. In fact, we often disagree. There’s no way favoritism can come into play.”
