The mid-century modern property comes with walls of windows, 4 bedrooms, 5.5 baths, several balconies and decks, and two pools.

This Lincoln mid-century modern home may have sharp angles, but the 6,128-square-foot octagonal property has a soft spot in the hearts of the owners who have loved it for 47 years.
“They raised their family here, and now it’s time to move on,” said Terry Perlmutter of Barrett Sotheby’s International Realty, who has the listing at 20 Huckleberry Hill Road. The square footage doesn’t include the walk-out lower level.
Consisting of three levels, the four-bedroom, 5.5-bath home is on the market for $2,100,000. Designed by acclaimed architects Hoover and Hill, the home was built in 1960, and additions were put on in 1998 and 2004. Its octagonal shape is a testament to Lincoln’s history as a hotspot for modern architecture, which started to gain a foothold in the 1930s, when agricultural land was sold off during the Great Depression, historical documents note.
Set back from the street, the 1.51-acre property welcomes you with a bluestone patio. Double doors open to the foyer, where you’re greeted with a broad spiral staircase down to the bedroom level, but a few steps forward and you’re in the towering 648-square-foot living room, a feast for the eyes with its vaulted ceiling, unique shape, and walls of glass that make the most of the treetop setting and the view of Cambridge Reservoir in the distance. A two-sided fireplace offers a cozy spot in the expansive space. The living room shares the fireplace with a 210-square-foot den. Looking for a quiet spot to read? Continue into the 280-square-foot library, which has a balcony.

Back in the foyer, you’ll find a half bath, but if you head down the hallway, you’ll land in the 518-square-foot kitchen, which was expanded in 2004. A stone fireplace anchors the bright white space, and the island holds a six-burner gas stove. The kitchen also offers a double oven, a built-in JennAir grill, a farmer’s sink, and blue marble countertops that “bring that whole room to life,” Perlmutter said. The pickled-wood flooring is another standout feature.
A formal dining room measuring 193 square feet sits off the kitchen, and a space off the living room could serve as an informal eating area. You can step out onto the balcony with your morning coffee and take in the bucolic setting.
Keep an eye on happenings in the 216-square-foot family room as you work in the adjoining home office (229 square feet). The family room’s white marble floor and expansive windows invite in nature and sunlight.
A long hallway in the back of the home serves as a mudroom. There’s also a second spiral staircase leading to the lower level.

The bedrooms are on the next level down. The first, which measures 487 square feet, boasts a wall of windows, a stone fireplace, recessed lighting, built-ins, and exposed beams. The second, which clocks in at the same size, is a suite with a bath, a laundry closet, and a door to the deck overlooking the pool, which is being sold in “as is condition.” The third bedroom is 294 square feet. The first and third bedrooms share a full bath.
The primary suite offers 608 square feet of living space, a sitting area, access to a deck with stairs that span all three stories, and a full bath filled with white tile. Subtle blue flowers surround the tub/shower.

Move down the hall and you’ll find a 229-square-foot media room, ideal for watching movies on a snowy day. There’s a full bath nearby.
On the ground level, a hallway leads to a 372-square-foot room with a lap pool. There’s also a full bathroom, an electrical room, and several storage areas.

Perched on a hilltop, the property’s rolling backyard embraces Lincoln’s natural beauty.
Entertaining? The second driveway provides additional parking options.
A “chalet” on the property has a stone floor, fireplace, and floor-to-ceiling windows. It is being sold as is. It comes with a full bath that’s not included in the total tally.
The detached three-car garage comes with a heated, finished studio space above it that currently houses a sauna.

“I’ve been doing this for almost 30 years. Have never had a property quite like this,” Perlmutter said. “It’s just really very much one of a kind.”
