While The First Descendant has clearly taken a lot of concepts from other games like Warframe, this goes too far at times, such as discovering that it used a number of UI icons that are almost identical to Destiny 2, Which was later changed.
Now? The First Descendant is getting ready to introduce its first new heroine since launch, Luna, and oh, well, we’re having a similar problem here.
Luna is a music-based hero who provides your team with a variety of buffs. If this reminds you of Lucio from Overwatch, look no further than the weapon they share.
But wait, there’s more! Luna’s new look that Nixon showed off yesterday takes us to Different The game’s heroine is Marvel Rivals, where her name, and now her hair, basically matches Luna Snow, a K-pop star with ice powers who first appeared in another game a while ago and made her way into the comics.
So we’re asking a question we’ve asked before, is it a copycat or an homage? We’ve come across this before where there’s a sniper rifle from First Descendant called the “Different Dream” that pretty much mimics the aesthetic of Destiny 2’s “Sleeper Simulant” weapon, and you can consider that a homage.
Here? I mean Blizzard doesn’t have the concept of a music-based hero with a music-based gun. I also don’t think she’s a healer, though she’d provide other team boosts and is clearly a support character like him.
As for Luna Snow, the hairstyle we’re talking about here is an optional cosmetic, not her default hairstyle, so it might be meant to pay homage to the South Korean Marvel heroine (Nexon is a Korean company). Okay, so their names are similar. But no ice powers.
I actually think that overall, The First Descendant does a good job. no The game’s characters mirror other games’ characters very directly in both design and concept. At least there’s nothing like this. This feels a bit close to both in a way since we’re not calling Viessa Emma Frost or anything like that. I think other characters like Bunny, Valby, or Freyna stand on their own quite well.
Will anything change here? This time, I doubt it. There’s nothing “stolen” per se, it’s just… very close to these other things. Luna will be released on August 2nd.
