Tenacious D bassist Kyle Gass has deleted an Instagram post in which he apologized for… Controversial Joke About Donald Trump Assassination Attempt.
Gass, who is one half of the comedy rock band alongside actor Jack Black, had referenced the shooting of former President Trump in Pennsylvania last weekend. The incident appears to have caused Disagreement between two band memberswith black Public condemnation of Gas Joke.
In a video from the concert in Sydney, Australia, posted to TikTok, Black can be heard telling Gase, “Make a wish.” As Gase blows out the candles, he jokes, “Don’t miss Trump next time.”
In a statement released on Tuesday (July 16), Black said he was “shocked by what was said on the show on Sunday,” adding that he “will never tolerate hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.”
“After much consideration, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold,” Black continued. “I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”
Initially, Gus apologized on Instagram, writing: “I do not condone violence in any form against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I am deeply sorry for my extreme lack of sound judgment. I deeply apologize to those I let down and am truly sorry for any pain I caused.”
But the 64-year-old singer and actor has now deleted the apology from his social media page.
Trump was speaking at a political rally when he was shot by a man, later identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.
Crooks, who was shot dead at the scene after biting Trump’s ear in a failed attempt to kill him, He was a registered Republican.While Trump escaped with only minor injuries, one person was killed and two others were injured in addition to the former president.
Former Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd was among those who criticised Gass for his comment, saying: news.com.au“I get sick when someone jokes about violence. Physically sick. People might think it’s a bit funny at a concert to talk about it so rudely.
“It’s not that. It’s about threats to physical life; it’s about an assassination attempt on a former and potential president of the United States, depending on the votes of the American people. It’s about killing innocent civilians and seriously wounding two people.”
