“We were on our way to the airport, and I missed my flight,” Haley Farr told 9 News.

“It broke down, it was so loud, the air conditioning was off, it was so scary.

“They kept repeating the same thing like stay calm, we know it’s broken and it will be fixed soon.”

Authorities worked to determine the cause of the outage but were unable to resolve it until about 10:30 a.m.

After the train finally arrived in Epping hours later, the entire station was closed and passengers were redirected to alternative buses.

By 11am, the platforms were reopened and trains were running again.

Sydney Metro has acknowledged the impact this issue has had on passengers and apologised for the significant delays it has caused.

“We acknowledge that the time taken to resolve the issue is not sufficient and we will continue to review our incident processes,” a company spokesperson said.
