The Bureau of Meteorology expects a low pressure system to deepen over the Tasman Sea, bringing more stormy weather into the coming week.
But the winter storm could also bring snow to inland parts of NSW including Armidale, Orange and the Blue Mountains.
Snow is expected in the Snowy Mountains, and in New South Wales, the Bureau of Meteorology expects snow to fall anywhere above 900 metres in the south of the state, and 1,100 metres in the north.
In Victoria, snow is expected in places above 900 metres, with snow possible in parts of Tasmania above 800 metres.
Multiple wind and wave warnings have been issued along the southeast coast of Australia.
The rainband is expected to continue across Tasmania, Victoria and inland NSW, peaking by Tuesday evening and easing on Wednesday.

In New South Wales, strong offshore winds are expected at Batemans Bay and the Eden Coast.
The Illawarra Coast has also been warned of strong winds.
The weather in Sydney is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures rising to 17 degrees Celsius.
Tasmania is expected to bear the brunt of the severe weather next week.
Hobart is expected to see maximum temperatures of just 10 degrees, with freezing southerly winds making it feel like close to zero, according to WeatherZone.
Brisbane is expected to reach 20C tomorrow, while showers are likely in Adelaide and Perth.
The temperature in Darwin will be tropical at 32 degrees.
