These Australian Cities Are The Biggest Cities For Porn Lovers

In the past year, there has been a huge increase in the popularity of “pornographic” books with the provocative fiction genre having surpassed 934 thousand shares Under #smuttok on TikTok.

By definition, “smut” refers to books that include one or more explicit sexual scenes, and today’s TikTok generation has embraced the porn category like never before.

Porn readers around the world have been using the popular video-sharing app to discuss, recommend and celebrate the genre – but where in Australia are residents embracing the trend and reading sultry romance novels and erotic tales?

Just to find out, Love honey AU ranked cities* across the country based on their love of reading porn, which was determined by the following four factors:

• Total Google searches for “smut”

• Total Google searches for “porn books”

• Number of mentions of the tag “smut”

• General positive feelings associated with online “pornography”

The five Australian cities most obsessed with porn have been revealed as follows:

Sydney is officially the world’s most porn-obsessed city

Sydney residents showed the highest interest in reading porn due to high Google search volume for the erotic genre (34,800 and 7,080) as well as high engagement on social media (13,700%) resulting in an overall index score of 64.8.

Perth takes second place; Brisbane completes top three

In second place is Perth, with a total of 15,600 and 3,840 Google searches for “porn” and “porn books”, and 19% of online posts mentioning the word “porn” as positive. The city is a prominent location for porn lovers with an overall index score of 59.5.

Brisbane comes in third with an overall index score of 38.0 driven by 10,560 Google searches for “smuttok” and 2,520 searches for “smuttok books.” Additionally, with 2,900% of mentions of “smuttok” and 24% of positive sentiment surrounding “smuttok” online, it’s clear that Brisbane residents are embracing the Smuttok trend.

Melbourne comes in fourth with a total of 28,000 Google searches for “porn” and an additional 5,760 searches for “porn book” proving that residents are into the genre. The total hashtag mentions of 2,900% and overall positive sentiment of 14% towards “porn” in Melbourne give the capital an overall score of 35.8.

Adelaide rounds out the top five most porn-obsessed cities with an overall index score of 26.4. The city’s residents spoke positively about porn online, with 20.00% of its residents saying so. Elsewhere, there were 5,760 Google searches for “porn” and 1,320 searches for “porn books” last year.
