The Queensland government is defending its youth justice policies amid allegations from carers and insiders that children are being held in abusive conditions.
Reports indicate that children as young as 14 – including a child with a mental capacity of five – are being placed in isolation rooms in police control centres across the state.
This comes amid a crackdown on youth crime in the state, ahead of elections scheduled for October.
