Queensland: Police to probe man’s death in custody

Queensland Police have launched an investigation after a man died in custody in Maryborough on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to Alice Street in Maryborough in south-east Queensland about 11.50am to check on the care.

Police said they responded to reports of a man in his 30s acting erratically before he was restrained.

The man was sedated and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police said he suffered a medical emergency and died a short time later.

The incident will be investigated by the Queensland Police Ethical Standards Command.
