Queensland Police investigate boy’s death after being struck by bus at Buderim

An 11-year-old boy has died after being hit by a bus while cycling on the Sunshine Coast.

Emergency services were called to reports that a bus was travelling along Jingellic Dr, near Karawatha Dr, in Buderim when it collided with a cyclist at about 3.45pm on Thursday.

The boy was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Queensland Police confirmed the boy died in hospital.

The forensic unit is currently investigating the incident.

The CDC bus driver, a man in his 60s, was not physically harmed and is assisting police with the investigation.

Another person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

It is understood that the man was on the bus at the time of the accident.

Witnesses or anyone with relevant information are urged to contact police.

The bus company CDC has been contacted.
