Police appeal for information about disappearance of Melbourne man Adrian Romeo

Adrian Romeo told his family he was going to visit some people in Greenville, north of Melbourne, before driving off in a distinctive gold 2004 Toyota Camry sedan.

More than five months after he left the home he shared with his father in Dempster Drive, Craigieburn, on the afternoon of February 10, his family have still not seen or heard from him.

Detective Inspector Dean Thomas of the Homicide Squad said police are now appealing for information about the mysterious disappearance of 43-year-old Romeo, who they suspect was the victim of an unlawful killing.

“We are very confident that Adrian’s disappearance is suspicious, and I believe he is dead,” Thomas said Sunday.

Romeo, 43, has been missing since February.

Thomas said there was nothing in Romeo’s history that suggested he needed to leave or that anyone would want to hurt him, and he had a large circle of friends and a close-knit family.

He said Romeo had “nothing to do with the police” and had no links to organised crime groups, describing his disappearance as “totally out of character”.

“There is nothing in Adrian’s history that helps explain why he disappeared,” Thomas said. “We hope that today there will be people who know what happened to Adrian.”

The phones and bank cards of the former concrete worker and the security officer remained intact, and a check of surveillance cameras turned up no sightings of the Camry.
