A man has died in hospital after a serious car crash at Perth Motorplex on Sunday.
Police and ambulance were called to Kwinana Beach Racecourse at about 10.15am, after a passenger suffered serious injuries in a car accident.
The man, aged in his 40s, was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital by ambulance before later dying.
The 60-year-old driver of the car escaped the crash with non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
A police spokesman said major accident investigators were investigating the fatal crash while a report into the passenger’s death would be prepared and submitted to the coroner.
The mid-year rally scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the track has been cancelled following the incident.
