Severe weather is expected to hit parts of western Washington state this week, with the Bureau of Meteorology warning it will arrive with “significant force”.
Meteorologist Angus Haynes said on Monday another winter cold front was approaching Perth.
A cold front is expected to hit the city Wednesday evening, but Haynes told residents to expect a more brutal storm than usual.
“Once we get into the evening and night, that’s when the cold front will come in and it will bring a little bit of a blast with it as well,” Mr. Haynes said.
“Showers with some pockets of heavy rain and thunderstorms including some severe thunderstorms that could bring us damaging wind gusts, lightning, thunder and hail are all possible.”
Mr Haynes said this cold front was likely to be stronger and more stormy than the one that hit at the weekend, with more than 50mm of rain expected in parts of the southwest.
Mr Haynes urged Western Australians, particularly those in the south-west, to monitor weather warnings.
“We may see some severe weather warnings issued before this event, so be careful if you are in the southwest of the country,” he said.
