Person dead after being hit by a brush truck in the city

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Police in Colorado Springs say they are investigating after a brush truck allegedly hit a woman in a downtown park. Police say firefighters from the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to reports of a tree stump on fire near Dorchester Park off Nevada and I-25. As the vehicle entered the park, police say it came into contact with a person. CSPD says members of the fire department came out to check on the person and the person was deceased.

“The next step for this will be a full investigation of what happened. The cause of death for that person will be determined by the medical examiner’s office,” said Lt. Shannon Snuggs. “It will be some time before we come to a full determination of, exactly what happened.”

The police are on the scene, as well as the major accident unit and the major accident team.

A CSFD spokesperson tells us, “Regarding the incident, a statement will be made tomorrow. We are currently working with the CSPD on this tragic incident.”

Brush trucks are fire trucks that are generally sent out to help fight smaller brush fires.

This is a developing story and will be updated as we get more information.
