However, it was his front row teammate Geoghegan who led from the start while Lodge remained in fourth behind first round winner Brady Owen and Wakenshaw Andretti United protects Hillier.
On the second lap, Hillier passed Owen, and one lap later, Lodge and Ryan Tomsett were also in front of Owen who had a moment when he came out of turn eight.
As they approached the halfway point of the 10-lap race, Geoghegan and Hillier had built a 3.0-second lead while Owen battled to third, ahead of Lachlan Gibbons, Lodge and Tomsett. Lodge then had a sensor problem that pushed him to the back of the pack.
Hillier continued to chase Geoghegan until he made a move on the final lap, winning by 0.38 seconds. Owen finished third from Gibbons, Clay Richards Brooke Stinson is in a tight group of four.
Behind them was Jack Westbury who started 14th and worked his way up to 7th before finishing the race in 8th place ahead of Alice Buckley And Hayden Hume.
Rounding out the top ten were Lincoln Taylor, Cooper Barnes, Jett Murray and Ben Gomersall, who started 25th after a gearbox failure early in qualifying. He ended up ahead of Charlie Nash, Josh Anderson, Jordan Freestone, Hugo Simpson and Toyota Guest Driver Louis Bates.
Harry Bates, the other guest pilot, was 24th, behind Will Sell, Craig Thornton, Salvatore Imbrogno and Tyler Cheney.
In the previous qualifying session, Lodge was fastest ahead of Geoghegan, Owen, Tomsett, Hillier and Stenson, who ended the session in the tyre barrier.
