LaurenShe is 32 years old and lives in Adelaide and works as a support worker. She was visiting a local shop when a handsome, conventionally dressed man approached her and asked where the eggs were.

“I politely said to her, ‘I’m sorry, I’m not entirely sure I don’t work here,’ even if that wasn’t obvious from the fact that I was wearing an all-grey tracksuit,” she told news.com.au.

Later, the same man approached her in the parking lot, pulled her aside and asked her if she had a boyfriend.

“I respectfully said, ‘I’m not dating right now, but thank you for showing interest.’ He asked me why not, which I ignored and then proceeded to tell me how pretty I was and how beautiful my smile was,” she explained.

Lauren said he handled the rejection well and was “respectful” in both interactions. After she ignored him a second time, he got into his car and then accidentally crashed into her car.

“I sat in the car for a while, and a few moments later, he crashed into my car. I wasn’t sure who it was at first because there hadn’t been any cars parked near me before,” she said.

“I was completely shocked and worried when I got out of my car to find it was him.”

A young woman was shocked by a man’s behavior after she rejected him.

She said her initial reaction was to assume it was an accident. However, as they were exchanging details, he said something that stunned her.

“The scariest part was when I came out to exchange details. He made a rude joke and said, ‘Well, this is a funny way to get your number,’ which was obviously a joke, but it made me feel incredibly uncomfortable,” she said.

Lauren said she is now “honestly” unsure whether he hit her car by accident or because he wanted to get her details.

“I keep thinking that surely no one would go that far to get someone’s phone number, but it also seems a bit of a coincidence,” she said.

The situation bothered her so much that she didn’t give him her details and took his instead as a precaution.

Lauren said the whole scenario made her feel anxious because she’s noticed a trend in men not taking rejection well.

“I feel like men have more rights to interact with others and don’t take rejection well. I feel like a lot of them are starting to lack boundaries or awareness of what’s appropriate and what’s not,” she said.

She said his comment after he hit her car made her “feel uncomfortable” and was a perfect example of a man who doesn’t understand when he crosses the line.

“He should have taken into consideration the feelings I may have felt as a result of that comment, but the way he made the comment seemed very aggressive and negative,” she said.
