A 22-year-old man has been charged after urinating on food at a Woolworths supermarket in Sydney’s CBD.

Police allege the man entered the George Street store on July 1 before urinating on the products and causing more than $300 worth of damage.

Police said staff worked intensively for several hours to clear the area.

Footage of the incident shows the man tying up his pants as he leaves the store.

The man was arrested in Hunters Hill at around 1.40am on Sunday, following a police appeal for public assistance.

He was taken to Gladesville Police Station where he was charged with “defilement of goods with intent to cause public alarm, entering land enclosed by unauthorised premises without lawful excuse, and abusive behaviour while on land enclosed by unauthorised premises”.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear in Parramatta Bail Court later on Sunday.
