A state of emergency has broken out at a train station in South Sydney after a man and a child were killed in a tragic accident.
Emergency services attended Carlton Railway Station today after reports that a pram – carrying two children – had slipped off the platform at around 12.25pm today.
A young child and an adult died at the scene.
Another child and a woman were unharmed and are being assessed by paramedics.
A crime scene has been identified but the incident is not believed to be suspicious.
In a message to X, police urged the public to avoid the area.
“The investigation is still ongoing,” police said.
Sydney Trains says services are not running between Woolley Creek and Hurstville on the T4 Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra line due to an incident requiring emergency services.
“Bus companies have been contacted to provide alternative services, but these buses have not yet arrived at the site.
“We advise travellers to postpone their trip and seek alternative arrangements.”
