A 45-year-old man has been found dead after he went missing while enjoying a day on the water on his recreational boat.
The family of a Clagerrabba man say they lost track of him on The Spit at Somerset Dam, northwest of Brisbane, this morning, with police spending the afternoon searching for any sign of him or his vessel.
Water skiers who had gathered for the race went to try to help, including Billy Cunningham.
When he arrived in the area, he was no longer able to help.
“You couldn’t see anything, that’s the worst part, you couldn’t see anything,” he said.
Police divers arrived this afternoon on a recovery mission, and the man’s body was found around 4 p.m.
A forensic report will be prepared.
