Initial reports indicate that witnesses saw the woman being forced into a pickup truck on Highfield Drive in Merrimack, near All Saints Anglican School, at about 4:30 p.m.
It is understood multiple police units, including a Bollier helicopter, were involved in the search for the truck, which was later found abandoned in the car park of Bunnings Hardware Store on Reedy Creek Road in Burley.
The woman took refuge in a McDonald’s restaurant a short distance from the scene, while two men are believed to have fled the area.
In a statement issued at 9:30pm on Sunday, a Queensland Police spokesperson said officers were investigating the incident.
“Investigations are ongoing into the incident in Merrimack this evening,” the spokesman said.
Police located the vehicle and spoke with the relevant parties.
“There is no threat to public safety.”
