A Brisbane-born actor and heart-throb has been spotted in a northside homewares store. WE’VE GOT THE SCOOP
Aspley Hypermarket posted a photo to its Facebook page saying the star visited Home Bargains to buy batteries.
“He’s super nice and we love him even more for shopping at our centre, when he’s not busy being a Hollywood star,” the Facebook post said.
Elordi could be seen posing up next to a fan for a picture in the homewares store.
A Home Bargains employee said it was the first time coming face-to-face with the Saltburn actor.
“He was at store, this is the first time,” she said.
“I didn’t personally get it meet him, he was here for only five minutes and he bought batteries.”
The Courier-Mail previously reported the 26-year-old was back on the market after splitting from YouTuber Olivia Jade Giannulli earlier this year.
Despite his busy acting career, Elordi remains connected to his Australian roots, regularly visiting his hometown to spend time with family, and most recently spotted in Aspley.
Elordi attended St Joseph’s Nudgee College before moving to Los Angeles to further his acting career.
BRONCOS WAGs SHARE LOVE ORIGIN STORIES
In a juicy panel at the inaugural Broncos Fillies Lunch held at the Broncos Leagues Club on Friday, Broncos veteran WAGs Rachel Walters and Tegan Miles gave the inside scoop on their love lives.
Rachel Walters, wife of Billy Walters, revealed how her and her now husband met at the less than romantic – and now closed down – The Flying Cock nightclub nearly a decade ago.
“He had a weird charm about him,” Rachel shared, noting Billy’s cheeky confidence.
But behind the charm is a fierce competitor – both on and off the field.
“There was a period of about three weeks where he and Christian Welch didn’t speak because of a card game.
“He’s a really bad loser,” she confessed.
Tegan Miles had the audience in stitches with her supermarket love story with now husband Corey Oates.
“I met Corey at Woolworths at Ashgrove. He was pushing a trolley with dog food and broccoli,” she recounted.
“He stopped me and started talking, and 30 minutes later, I had to put the yoghurt back that I had in my trolley and got another off the shelf.”
The romance hit a snag when Corey forgot Tegan’s name.
“He found it very hard to track me down,” Tegan said.
“Probably about a month or so later, he was able to describe me to someone, and then they said, ‘Oh, now I know who told me about you.’”
The real twist came when Corey discovered Tegan was the daughter of NRL legend Gene Miles.
“He was absolutely shi**ing himself when he found out and ran away for 18 months,” she said.
“We started seeing each other, then he’d disappear and come back. Then he finally told me why and got some confidence.”
Their first meeting with her dad was a moment to remember.
It was during my birthday, and we had a barbecue. Dad was coincidentally picking the State of Origin team that afternoon,” Tegan said.
“Corey was a contender. We finished eating the cake, and Dad got up and said, ‘I’m off to pick the Origin team. If you don’t make it, it wasn’t my decision,’ and walked out the door.”
WHAT WAS MARGOT DRINKING?
Margot Robbie’s recent appearance at Wimbledon has sparked quite the buzz, not just for her stylish maternity look and first public appearance with her baby bump on full display.
While the actor looked stunning and radiant in her first public appearance since the news of her pregnancy broke on July 12, it was the drink in her hand that captured the most attention.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed a distinctive blue can in nearly every photo of Robbie at the event.
After paparazzi photos became available, fans were able to zoom in on the mystery cans, revealing they were labelled “Papa Salt,” Robbie’s gin brand.
However, this was peculiar because Papa Salt does not currently sell any products in cans.
This led to widespread speculation that Robbie’s presence at Wimbledon was a meticulously planned PR stunt to launch a new canned cocktail product.
Confirming the suspicions, a spokesperson for Papa Salt Gin revealed that Robbie was indeed drinking a new, yet-to-be-announced product: the Papa Salt Gin canned Paloma, set to hit the market later this year.
“The Founders bar Margot were drinking the new Papa Salt Paloma cans at Wimbledon which will be releasing in Australia in October,” the spokesperson said.
This revelation brought up another question: Was the evidently pregnant Robbie drinking alcohol?
Scoop can exclusively reveal that the brand not only confirmed Robbie’s pregnancy, which she had yet to publicly announce, but also clarified that she was enjoying a unique alcohol-free version.
“Margot was drinking ‘Mama Salt’, an alcohol-free tonic that was especially made for our mama to be. This unfortunately won’t be a new release from the brand and won’t be available to the public.” the spokesperson added.
Robbie attended the event on July 12 with her husband Tom Ackerley to watch Daniil Medvedev face off against Carlos Alcaraz.
The pair were the epitome of style and grace, with Robbie in a chic black and white polka dot dress that elegantly showcased her growing baby bump.
The founders of Papa Salt Gin, including Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Regan Riskas, and Charlie Maas, were also present, enjoying the new canned cocktails.
The upcoming Papa Salt Paloma promises to be a hit, featuring the brand’s award-winning gin mixed with Capi Grapefruit Soda and a hint of rosemary.
Set to launch in October, this new ready-to-drink product aims to capture the Aussie summer market with its refreshing taste and low calorie count.
In an exclusive interview with Scoop, Papa Salt Gin co-founder and CEO Charlie Maas shared insights into the brand’s latest venture.
“When we launched in Australia last year, bartenders constantly served us simple, easy-to-make paloma cocktails featuring CAPI Grapefruit Soda. Gin palomas weren’t really on our radar at the time, but it quickly became one of our favourite serves,” Maas explained.
As for where Australians can purchase the new Paloma cans, Maas remained tight-lipped, urging fans to stay tuned for more details.
NICK’S SWEET BIRTHDAY SURPRISE
A southern Brisbane Indian restaurant received a surprising booking from none other than Nick Jonas himself to pull off a birthday surprise for his wife on the Gold Coast.
Priyanka Chopra was surprised on set in the Gold Coast for her birthday on Thursday, with her husband teeing up Indian and waffle food trucks to add to the celebration.
DosaHut Mt Gravatt took to Instagram to share the “incredible honour” for Chopra on the set of The Bluff.
“A huge thank you to Priyanka and Nick Jonas for choosing us to bring the authentic taste of India to the celebration with our Dosa Truck from DosaHut Mt Gravatt,” they said.
Chopra also shared her excitement for the surprise – even giving the DosaHut crew a shout out on her Instagram.
“Thank you to my incredible husband who made his presence felt in such special ways, even though he was not there. The Dosa Truck for the crew tho!!!”
Now practically endorsed by the Jonas’, this Indian joint might need to add a few more tables.
SUNS BOSS’ BIG WIN
It’s been a record season of sellout games for the Gold Coast Suns, and club boss Peter Fitzgibbon has notched up an off-field win, scoring real estate gold with the surprise sale of his waterfront pad.
Deputy CEO Simon Fitzgibbon and his wife Shara quietly sold their renovated home for $4.23m in an off-market deal handled by Kollosche agents Troy Dowker and James Roberts.
That’s $2.63m more than they paid in 2018 for the stylish coastal-inspired pad, which has its own private stretch of sandy beach, and a pontoon for ocean access from its prime point position.
The top-dollar deal comes as Mr Fitzgibbon’s club enjoys a record season of fan support, with the Suns achieving three sold-out home games in 2024 for the first time ever.
The Fitzgibbons had recently refurbished their boatie-friendly home on an 865 sqm lot, which comes with a beautiful tiled pool at the waters’ edge that wouldn’t be out of place at a resort.
The renos weren’t quite complete, but the owners were presented with an offer that was too good to refuse. And with a six-month settlement, they have time to browse the market with extra cash in the kitty to secure their new luxury digs.
On the buying side, it’s a coup for young gun real estate agent Jordan Strudwick and his wife Jana, who are expanding their Ipswich-based business on the Glitter Strip.
The Palm Beach property is a dream family home for the Strudwicks, in the same blue-chip southern Queensland market where they plan on opening Strud Property’s newest office.
MARATHON ROCKED BY ‘FRAUD’ ALLEGATION
The Gold Coast Marathon earlier this month was hailed as a record-breaking success, but not everyone was happy.
Coast Indigenous identity Max Dillon unleashed on Facebook after organisers commissioned an Aboriginal artist, who is not from the local Kombumerri tribe, to design the finishers’ medals.
The artist, Daisy Brown, lives on the Gold Coast but describes herself as “a proud descendant of the Muruwari people” – Muruwari being an inland Indigenous region stretching from Cunnamulla near the Queensland-NSW border down into northwestern NSW.
Trumpeting the talents of Ms Brown, marathon organisers said she lived on “Yugambeh Country, Gold Coast, QLD” and “finds inspiration in the beauty of the land, sea and sky”.
“Daisy’s artworks are her own interpretations and she does not paint Dreaming stories she is not a Custodian of,” they added.
Mr Dillon, grandson of respected Kombumerri elder Dr Graham Dillon, lashed the use of “Yugambeh” – a local Aboriginal language – as “fraud”.
“This is Kombumerri Country, we have our own language,” he wrote.
One commenter said there were “plenty of deadly Kombumerri artists that could’ve (sic) benefited from this opportunity” while another said marathon organisers were “in bed with the wrong mob”.
Max Dillon has been heavily critical of the use of “Yugambeh” to describe the country inhabited by the Kombumerri.
FISHER’S MERCY DASH
Gold Coast-based international DJ Paul ‘The Fish’ Fisher has made a lightning dash home in between overseas gigs to spend some short but sweet time with his new baby daughter.
Fisher’s wife Chloe gave birth to their first child, Bobbi, last month after the couple endured years of heartbreaking miscarriages, including the loss of twins.
Former pro surfer Fisher had to head to the US shortly after the birth for a series of New York sets but had to jump back on a jumbo for more shows in Europe and the US, including Spanish party island Ibiza.
Before he jetted out, Chloe posted an adorable pic of her hubby holding a dozing baby Bobbi in a sling.
“Last few hours before daddy has to go back to Ibiza,” he captioned the pic.
“Bobbi got daddy’s eyes.”
THE GOLD COAST’S CELEBRITY HOTSPOT
The Gold Coast’s Langham Hotel has become the ultimate playground for the rich and famous, attracting an impressive roster of A-listers like Harry Styles, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Post Malone, P!nk and her husband Carey Hart, and the latest to join the elite club – Mark Wahlberg. So, what’s the secret behind this luxury oasis?
Currently in town filming his new movie “Balls Up,” sources have revealed that Wahlberg has chosen the Langham’s ‘Chairman’s Ocean Suite’ as his personal retreat.
This extravagant suite, costing a jaw-dropping $4500 per night, sprawls over 340 square metres on the 20th floor.
With two bedrooms, two lounge areas, a full-size study, dining area, and a butler’s pantry, marble bathroom, circular spa bathtub and ocean views, it’s the epitome of opulence.
Despite his filming commitments in Brisbane’s CBD, Wahlberg prefers the Langham Gold Coast, travelling daily to enjoy its unparalleled luxury.
This trend isn’t unique to Wahlberg; many celebrities bypass Brisbane’s hotels for the Langham’s five-star beachfront allure.
When asked about the hotel’s appeal, a Langham spokesperson revealed, “The Langham is the only five-star absolute beachfront hotel on the Gold Coast. The sun-kissed beaches and sprawling hinterland are icons of Queensland, making the choice an easy one for our high-end guests.”
While the Langham remains tight-lipped about its most famous guests, it’s clear that its blend of luxury, discretion, and breathtaking views make it the top choice for celebrities.
“Luxury hospitality is all about discretion,” a Langham spokesperson said.
