Lily Allen has opened up about her career feud with a TV star who once accused her of “manipulating” him.
The singer and actress tackled the topic of “the beggar friend” in the latest episode of her show. BBC Podcast, Do You Miss Me?
When a caller asked Lily and co-host Mikita Oliver if they had any celebrity friends, Lily pointed to actor and comedian James Corden.
A “beggar friend” is understood to be someone who “begs” for someone’s attention in the hope of friendship.
The 39-year-old actress explained how her BBC talk show Lily Allen and FriendsThe documentary series “The Last Day” that aired in the late 2000s played a role in the story.
Guests included Louis Walsh, David Mitchell, Robert Webb and James Corden.
Speaking on the podcast, Lily said: “James Corden was like a beggar friend to me.
“[He] “He came on my talk show and was really flirty with me, and we kind of became friends and I introduced him to a bunch of my friends.”
Following this, Smiling The singer claimed that James had previously accused her of “manipulating him or something,” which she said was “definitely not the case.”

Speaking about Miss Me?, Lily added: “I think if I ever had a famous friend, it would be James Corden, back in the day.
“He doesn’t beg me anymore. I don’t beg him anymore either.
“I can’t do anything for him now. He’s fine.”
James, 45, returned to the UK last year after spending eight years in Los Angeles hosting Late Show For CBS.
During his time in the US, he promoted viral videos including Carpool Karaoke. The comedic musical collaboration featured the likes of Mariah Carey, Justin Bieber, One Direction and Stevie Wonder, among other stars.
