Jordan Prosser: the 10 funniest things I have ever seen (on the internet) | Culture

GJust when I think I’ve gotten out, the internet pulls me back in. My partner controls my social media passwords (at my request) because every time I log in for “work,” “research,” or “human connection,” it inevitably turns into at least an hour of sleep. Rewatching the old Micallef show I browse endless amounts of fun and useful memes. Here are 10 things on the internet that I find myself coming back to over and over again when I really have to do something else.

1. Megan Stalter – Pride Month

Every June, the internet trembles as brands cynically try to cash in on Pride Month. This ever-present TikTok video of Megan Stalter (who stars in One of the best shows on TV, Hacks) Perhaps the best summary and parody of these disturbing manifestations of colorful capitalism. “Wouldn’t a candle be nice for gay things?”

It’s entirely possible that I discovered this clip through this very column, but it’s so good that it’s worth resharing—especially since each year continues to bring an onslaught of “hot new teens on the Hollywood scene.” Now that I’m in my mid-30s, I can’t keep changing the size of my legs anymore, either.

3. Patti Harrison banned from Twitter

5. Can he drink sparkling water without burping?

Look, I like to think I’m a man of taste and sophistication, but I also grew up watching Australia’s funniest home videos, so I’m not immune to the joys of a good fail video, especially when it involves a boring viral challenge. Is this video staged? Maybe. Do I care? No. If so, this guy deserves an Emmy. Or at least a Webby.

I am forever grateful Youtube This program has given us the ability to track down obscure bits of old British cartoons including Big Train, Jam and Man Stroke Woman. As a sports fanatic Melbourne resident, this clip perfectly sums up what everything on TV looks like the moment football season starts.

7. Let me see what you have.

It’s one of those perfect moments of reality that even the greatest minds in comedy couldn’t imagine even if they tried. The filming, the timing, the presentation, the camera work, the cutting; it all makes this a triumph of cinematic artistry, and a great thing to show people when they ask me why I don’t want kids.

8. Hannah Camilleri – Dracula

One of my favorite local comedians, Hannah Camilleri, has a greater ability to make an audience laugh than any actor I know, along with a strangely baroque taste in the subjects she covers, and a penchant for gothic and old-fashioned fantasy. It’s great stuff.

9. Brooklyn Beckham’s Photography Book

Elephants. It’s so hard to photograph! Nepotism is a sinister trait whereby money, power and influence are hoarded and held by a privileged few, exacerbating inequality and leading to untold corruption at the heart of our society. Sometimes it’s downright funny.

10. Old Hollywood Mistakes

Finally, look at all those talented dead people, they were just like us! But with much better morals, and they had so much more ahead of them.
