Australian entertainment industry applauds Neighbour And actress Janet Andrewartha, who died aged 72, from the series Prisoner.
Former stars of Neighbours and Prisoner have expressed their sadness over the actor’s death.
She is best known for her roles as Lynn Scully on Neighbors, Reb Keane on Prisoner: Cell Block, and most recently in the television thriller Fake.
Neighbors’ social media accounts confirmed her death on Sunday evening.
“Everyone at Neighbours is deeply saddened by the passing of Janet Andrewartha,” the show said in a statement.
“People will remember Janet for her diverse work.”
Andrewartha has starred in numerous Australian television and theatre series since the early 1980s, returning to Neighbours several times after her initial seven-year stint.
Actress Jackie Woodburne, best known for playing Susan Kennedy on the hit TV series, said she will miss her friend of 45 years.
Janet was one of the best actresses of her generation, but more than that, she was an extraordinary woman.
“Passionate, political, curious, delightfully eccentric, generous and fun.”
The 72-year-old died peacefully surrounded by his family in Melbourne on Friday, the Herald Sun reported.
Stefan Dennis, who played Paul Robinson in Neighbours, said he would miss her greatly.
“She was truly an exceptional actress and a pleasure to work with and be around,” he posted on Instagram.
“We will all miss you, dear.”
