iOS 18 Beta: Safari’s Find on Page Search Function Has a New Home

Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 18 On Monday, just over a month after the tech giant announced the program at its annual conference, Global Developers Conference In June, Apple said the update would bring several new features to your iPhone, including the ability to Lock and hide specific appsThe update also puts Safari’s Find on Page functionality in a new, easier-to-find place, so you don’t accidentally send a web page to a friend or family member.

Before iOS 18, if you wanted to use the “Find in Page” feature to look up a word in the Safari app on your iPhone, you had to tap the Share button — the square with the arrow coming out of it — in the bottom menu of the webpage, then tap “Find in Page.” But you risked accidentally sending the webpage to someone else, to another app, or even posting it to social media. With iOS 18, the “Find in Page” feature can be found in a new place away from the Share button, so you don’t make that potentially embarrassing mistake.

However, iOS 18 is still in beta, and we recommend only downloading the beta on a device other than your primary iPhone. Because this isn’t the final version of iOS 18, the update may be buggy and battery life may be short, so it’s best to keep these issues on a secondary device.

Note that the beta is not the final version of iOS 18, so other features may come to your iPhone when iOS 18 is released. Apple has said that iOS 18 will be released to the public this fall, but there is no specific date yet.

Here’s how to locate ‘Find in Page’ in iOS 18 on Safari.

Where to find the search on the page

Find Page can now be found in a new location in iOS 18.

1. Opens Safari trips.
2. Go to the web page.
3. Click on the Reader icon – it looks like a rectangle with two lines below it on the left side of the address bar.
4. Click the icon that looks like a page with a magnifying glass in the new menu.

Find on Page works the same way it did in previous versions of iOS. Start typing on the keyboard at the bottom of the screen, and Safari will highlight all the examples of what you’re looking for. To the right of your search bar—just above the keyboard—are up and down arrows that you can tap to jump to the next example of the word you’re looking for.

You can also click the magnifying glass to the left of the search bar to open a menu. This menu has two options: whole words and matching uppercase and lowercase letters. Whole words is the default search, but you can use matching uppercase and lowercase letters if you’re looking for something like King’s last name — a famous horror author. That way, your search won’t highlight words like “making” or “taking.”

Once finished, you can click Finished Next to the search bar to close the search bar and keyboard.
