A murder investigation has been launched after the body of a man was found in a stairwell in East Melbourne Overnight.
Police were called to a property on Yonge Street in Box Hill at around 7.45pm yesterday after reports of an assault.
Security forces found a man’s body in the stairwell.
A second man is assisting in the investigation, police said.
The victim has not yet been formally identified, but police believe the two parties are known to each other.
Investigators remain at the scene this morning and will be combing surrounding surveillance cameras.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet clear, and the investigation is ongoing,” police said.
