Google has announced that it will remove low-quality apps next month.

according to GoogleApps must be able to provide a “stable, responsive, and engaging user experience,” and apps that do not meet the new standard will be removed.
“Apps that crash, don’t have the basic usefulness of a mobile app, lack engaging content, or exhibit other behaviors that are inconsistent with a functional and engaging user experience are not allowed on Google Play,” the company said in a statement.
Google said it will not allow apps with only limited functionality and content, for example, static apps with no app-specific functionality such as text-only apps or PDF apps, apps with very little content that don’t provide an engaging user experience, and apps designed to do nothing or have no functionality.
The tech giant also said it is working to eliminate apps with “broken functionality,” meaning apps that have bugs, crash, or don’t work properly.
“We do not allow apps that crash, force close, freeze, or behave abnormally in any way,” the statement reads.
The changes will not affect apps already downloaded on users’ phones.
There are currently 3.3 million apps available on the Google Play Store, according to app data firm Business of Apps.
Google’s policy preview indicates that the app’s removal date is August 31, 2024.
