Francis Ford Coppola He is seen “trying to kiss young actresses” in shocking new footage of the Oscar-winning director on the set of his upcoming sci-fi epic Megalopolis.
Earlier this year in May, the 85-year-old film director was initially released from prison. Accused of trying to ‘kiss topless and semi-nude actresses’ during production From the film – which is set to hit theaters later this year on September 27.
And on Friday, diverse I got hold of two videos taken by a crew member of the movie Megalopolis in February of last year while filming a scene in a nightclub.
In the clips, Coppola can be seen wandering around a crowded dance floor full of female extras as music blares loudly from speakers – and appears to get close to a few of them as he attempts to kiss and hug them.
The scene — which also featured one of the cast’s biggest stars, Nathalie Emmanuel — was filmed at the Tabernacle Concert Hall in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to a call sheet also obtained by Variety, background actors playing female party guests “were given permission to go topless” while others were given permission to wear semi-sheer clothing.
There were between 150 and 200 people on set to film the nightclub scene, including Coppola and other crew members.
Sources claimed to the newspaper that Coppola acted with “impunity” on the set, while also behaving “unprofessionally.”
An insider also claimed that Francis was trying to get close to the extras while filming a scene, and accidentally put himself in the shot.
“I’ve worked with very important directors and this behavior is not common — the most I’ve seen from any director is someone saying something like, ‘High energy, guys,’” the source told Variety.
“I’ve never seen anyone on the set touch me before, and that extends to the camera operator, and even the actor.”
The insider also claimed that at one point during the filming of the scene, Coppola announced into the microphone: “Sorry if I came up to you and kissed you. Just know that this is just for my enjoyment.”
Since there was no outside studio or streaming service associated with the production, there was no HR department during filming.
A separate source stated, “Since Coppola financed the film, there was no HR department to monitor things. Who were they supposed to talk to? Complain to Coppola and report Coppola to himself?”
However, intimacy coordinators Samantha MacDonald and Ashley Anderson worked on the film, but were not present on set during the filming of the nightclub scene.
“I can’t really speak to why they chose us when they did and not when they didn’t,” MacDonald explained to Variety.
A few months ago in May, a report was published Watchman The magazine detailed Francis’ behavior during the making of the film, quoting several insiders who “felt that Coppola may be ‘old school’ in his behavior toward women.”
Eyewitnesses told the newspaper that while filming a scene in a club, “the famous director came to the set and tried to kiss some topless and semi-naked actresses.”
The Detroit-born director, who directed The Godfather trilogy as well as Apocalypse Now (which also had a notoriously chaotic production), premiered the film at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
Darren Demeter, one of the film’s producers, explained that Coppola was trying to set the tone of the room with his actions while producing the club scene.
“There were two days when we shot a Studio 54-style party scene, where Francis would walk around the set setting the mood by giving hugs and kisses on the cheek to the actors and background players,” Demeter said.
The director hugging and kissing the performers “was his way of helping to inspire and establish the atmosphere of the club, which is very important to the film,” Dimitri said.
Dimitri, who said he was “one of the first assistant directors and executive producer” on Megalopolis, added that he was “not aware of any complaints of harassment or misconduct during the execution of the project.”
Dimitri said Coppola nailed all aspects of making the film, which stars Adam Driver at the head of the cast.

“Francis has successfully produced and directed a major independent film, making all the tough decisions to ensure it was delivered on time and on budget, while remaining true to his creative vision,” he said.
The Guardian reported that many crew members were unhappy with their experiences on the film’s set, which saw a significant turnover in the visual effects and art teams.
“It sounds crazy,” one crew member said, “but there were times when we were all standing around wondering, ‘Has this guy ever made a movie before?’”
“We were all aware that we were taking part in what could be a really sad end to his career,” one crew member said of the mood on set.
A crew member said the creative process on the film was frustrating and inefficient amid Coppola’s disorganization and insistence on overseeing all aspects of the production.
“He would often show up in the morning before these big scenes, and because there was no plan, and because he wouldn’t let his assistants make a plan, he would often sit in his trailer for hours on end, not talking to anyone, and he would often smoke marijuana,” said one crew member.
“Hours and hours would go by without anything being filmed. The crew and the actors would stand around waiting for it to happen,” said one crew member.
“And then he would go out and come up with something that didn’t make sense, that didn’t fit with anything anyone was talking about or anything that was on the page, and we would all just go along with it, trying to make the most of it.”
One crew member said the crew were in a state of daily confusion, “leaving the place shaking their heads wondering what we did for the last 12 hours.”
While filming the movie, Coppola was also dealing with the illness of his wife, Eleanor Coppola, who died at the age of 87 in April of this year.
Eleanor was on the set of the film “until her illness prevented her from being there,” a cast spokesman told The Guardian.
Along with Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel, other stars set to star in the upcoming project include Dustin Hoffman, Giancarlo Esposito, Shia LaBeouf, Aubrey Plaza, Jon Voight, Chloe Fineman, and DB Sweeney.
The idea is based on the following: “An architect wants to rebuild New York City as an ideal city after a devastating disaster,” according to an official. IMDB Summary.
Coppola not only directed Megalopolis, but also wrote the screenplay and financed the film himself on a massive budget of $120 million.
