“What was he evening trying to say?” A first look teaser has debuted for an indie comedy film called BRB, a throwback to the era of dial-up and away messages and handheld cameras. This film is premiering at the 2026 Slamdance Film Festival later this month – you can catch some screenings in Los Angeles soon if you want to watch it during its world premiere. A love-sick teenage girl and her older sister embark on a road trip to meet her online boyfriend, but what begins as a fun, sisterly quest quickly devolves into chaos as each girls’ ulterior motives are revealed and the lies pile up faster than the miles. Filmmaker Kate Cobb explains: BRB is a tender, darkly funny ode to early internet girlhood, complicated sisterhood, and what it means to be both too visible and unseen at the same time. The indie film stars Autumn Best & Zoe Colletti, with Beth Lacke, Keith Kupferer, Richard David, Dan Haller, & Cristian Lager. It’s worth a quick look.
Here’s the festival teaser trailer (+ poster) for Kate Cobb’s indie comedy film BRB, direct from YouTube:

Set in the fleeting era of dial-up and away messages, BRB follows 15-year-old Sam (Autumn Best), who embarks on a road trip with her older sister Dylan (Zoe Colletti) to meet the boy she fell for in a chatroom. What starts as a quest to meet a first love, descends into a chaotic, painfully funny journey of two young women trying to unravel the tender and chaotic intersections of girlhood. BRB is a love letter to early internet girlhood, to complicated sisters, and to anyone who’s ever felt both invisible and exposed all at once. BRB is directed by American indie filmmaker Kate Cobb, director of the films Okie and Dandelions previously and one other short. The screenplay is written by Michael Waller & Sydney Blackburn. Produced by Kevin Bigley, In The Rye Productions, Chicago Media Angels. This is premiering at the 2026 Slamdance Film Festival coming up – for more info / tickets visit the festival site. No other release is set yet. Any good?
