Father and son killed in Melbourne house fire

A father and son have died in a horrific house fire in Melbourne’s east.

Firefighters were called to the home on Craig Road in Donville just before 4 a.m. after the house caught fire.

Calvin Reeder, 61, and his 14-year-old son Brendan were found dead inside the home.

More than 30 firefighters were called to the scene and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties.

Terrified neighbors tried to use water hoses to put out the flames.

The fire was contained within 45 minutes, but the house was completely destroyed by the flames and its roof collapsed.

Relatives of the victims were seen comforting each other at the scene.

At this stage, police are not treating the fire as suspicious.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
