Spice Girl Emma Bunton is in a showdown with the tax office over a £4 million ($7.8 million) windfall from the band’s reunion.

The star is reportedly facing problems with HMRC over her huge earnings from her 2019 tour. the sun.

Bunton, 48, earned £3,929,282 ($7,669,070 AUD) from comeback gigs before her company Monsta Touring Ltd was put into voluntary liquidation in 2021.

The company was created to handle its profits from the reunion.

Baby Spice thought she had paid her bills after paying £748,014 ($1.45 million) in corporation tax when the tour ended.

She was handed a second bill for £185,006 ($361,000) to settle her affairs after she went into liquidation.

However, HMRC believes that Ponton has a third debt to repay.

The liquidators of Monsta revealed: “We understand that all taxes have already been paid. Since March 2023, we have been in contact with HMRC to resolve the situation. This remains ongoing.”

Bunton, who has two children with former Damage singer Jade Jones, has already received a cash payment of £3,181,268 ($6,209,090 AUD) from the company. Her agent has been asked to comment.

The 2019 tour saw the Spice Girls perform as a quartet without band star Posh Spice and Victoria Beckham.

The last time the original five members of the group – Bunton, Beckham, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm – performed together was at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
