Police are conducting a large-scale operation in Beach City after a man was found with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to West Coast Road near Boulevard in City Beach due to reports of a “disturbance”.
A man in his 20s was found with life-threatening injuries to his head and legs.
A spokeswoman for St John in Western Australia confirmed that several paramedics were present, including an intensive care paramedic.
He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for emergency treatment.
Police arrested a man in his 20s.
“An investigation has been launched to find out what happened,” police said.
West Coast Road is closed between Hill Road and Boulevard and traffic is heavy in the area.
Large pools of blood and scattered clothing can be seen along the road, as investigators monitor the beach perimeter.
