Bill and EastEnders star Roberta Taylor has died aged 76 after contracting an infection following a horrific fall.
Roberta had been suffering from pneumonia after a fall two months earlier, guardian Reports.
The actress played the role of the strong mother, Irene Raymond, in EastEnders From 1997 to 2000.
She then left the BBC to play hard-drinking Inspector Gina Gould in the long-running police drama project of law From 2002 to 2008.
Roberta has also acted on stage in the West End and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Her last major television role was in the comedy series Private Detectives. Shakespeare and Hathaway.
The real-life London actress was born in Plaistow, East London, to bus driver Winifred Roberts and his “grumpy” colleague Robert Archer.
She grew up in a small house with her mother, grandmother, and aunts on the Isle of Dogs after Robert abandoned the family.
Roberta left school without any qualifications and started working as a secretary.
She married rope maker Victor Taylor in 1966 and had a son, Elliot, the same year.
An elderly friend Roberta met in Portobello Market, west London, urged her to try drama school.
She took acting lessons while training to become a dental nurse – before auditioning for the famous Central School in 1973.
By coincidence, Roberta’s future partner Peter Guinness also tried to join the Central Center on the same day.
Roberta separated from her first husband in 1975 and settled with Peter in Pimlico, central London.
The couple moved to Vauxhall across the river before marrying in 1996.
Roberta and Peter attended a competition hosted by fellow celebrity Claudia Winkleman for homeless charity Centrepoint last February.
They posed for a photo with other stage stars in what is believed to be Roberta’s last public photo.
Roberta is survived by Peter, her son Elliot, her granddaughter Ellis, and her half-brothers Lionel and Brian.
