An Australian woman has issued an urgent warning to anyone travelling to Europe this summer: “Wear a T-shirt over your swimsuit.”

Isabel Lakinfrom SydneyAnyone who ignores this little-known rule could be fined $1,100 AUD, he said.

“If you don’t want a €700 fine, don’t wear a bikini top when you leave the beach without wearing something over it. They will come after you, they don’t want tourists to do that,” the 23-year-old warned.

The public service announcement was widely released. Tik Tok.

And he went out to the women traveling to ItalyHvar in Croatia, or Dubrovnik.

If you are going on a cruise in Croatia and you think you can just walk around the city in a tiny bikini top.. I wouldn’t recommend it.

“I know some people who got seriously stung last year and most of them were Sail Croatia participants who forgot the rules. So don’t do it, you’ve been warned.”

A number of European cities have implemented this fine, including Sorrento in Italy, Dubrovnik and Barcelona.

Isabelle is enjoying a European summer holiday and remembers a rule she learned last year. In Croatia, she noticed that other women wearing bikinis were being fined a hefty €700 ($1,137 AUD) for not covering their bodies when they were not on the beach.

A strict dress code has been imposed in Sorrento after complaints from locals about tourists showing their skin and bodies in bikinis while walking around towns or cities after coming from the beach.

This highlights the importance of researching the laws, rules and restrictions of each new place you visit before arriving at the destination.

Isabel’s 30-second video has been viewed more than 229,000 times, with many others admitting they had “no idea” about the rule.

“I had no idea about this, I was in Croatia last year. I walked around the town and city walls in a bikini top and a skirt. Thank God I didn’t get fined,” one person commented.

“I’m watching this now after I did it in Split without knowing.. luckily I didn’t get fined,” said another.

“This almost happened to me in Marseille!” admitted another.

A female tour guide also joined the conversation and wrote: “That’s right. I work as a tour guide in Croatia. You shouldn’t walk around anywhere in a bikini top, or without a shirt in cities. It depends on luck.”

Another person wrote: “Some places in Sicily do the same thing too.”

However, others could not believe that travelers did not know this rule.

“Isn’t that common sense? I don’t see people walking around in bikinis in London,” one wrote.

But another person said: “It’s very common in Australia to do this as many of the beach towns in London are quite different.”

Last year another Australian warned travellers not to “show their chests” in Rome, After being banned from several tourist attractions because of her clothing.

Jackie Hodge, 26, from Australia, took to TikTok to explain that her short white dress, which was backless and had cutouts in the chest, had caused a stir.

She said the “loose” dress looked stunning in photos but was far from ideal, with her being rejected by some of Italy’s most famous monuments including the Vatican and the Pantheon.
