9News cameras were there when the 37-year-old suspect was arrested just metres from the alleged crime scene in Adelaide’s north.
Moments earlier, he allegedly assaulted the restaurant’s owner, Walter Ventura.
Police combed Ventura’s Lefevre Terrace home, where he lives with his wife and children, for evidence, and collected a broomstick.
They say the suspect was there earlier this morning, smashing windows around 4 a.m.
Last week, a Ventura restaurant was also targeted, with windows and doors smashed.
Police are still investigating whether the two incidents are linked.
Surveillance cameras capture a person walking away from the scene at the same time that night.
A 66-year-old man was also assaulted this morning at an estate office on O’Connell Street.
The 37-year-old will face court tomorrow charged with serious criminal trespass, damaging property, assault and endangering life.
