Anthropic’s Claude Powering Elation Health’s Clinical Insights Module

EHR vendors says Claude synthesizes complex, longitudinal patient data — including problem lists, medications, visit notes, labs, and vitals — into concise summaries

In an August 2025 interview, Kyna Fong, Ph.D., Elation Health’s co-founder and CEO, stressed the importance of building AI features natively into the EHR platform. “We are embedding AI natively into Elation as one of the tools in the toolkit for accelerating our roadmap and solving important problems for our customers faster or more completely,” she said.

Now Claude, Anthropic’s AI assistant, is powering the Clinical Insights solution of San Francisco-based Elation Health’s primary care-focused EHR.  The company says it has 46,000 clinical users caring for 23 million patients.

Since launching its AI platform in August 2025, Elation said it has seen rapid adoption of AI tools across its nationwide primary care network, with Clinical Insights emerging as the fastest‑adopted AI feature on the platform.

Elation said that Clinical Insights now uses Claude’s speed and long-context reasoning to synthesize complex, longitudinal patient data — including problem lists, medications, visit notes, labs, and vitals — into concise summaries with clear citations back to the chart. This enables primary care clinicians to get a focused view of each patient’s health story, helping them prepare for visits faster while staying firmly in control of clinical decisions.

Since completing the migration in November, Elation says the integration of Claude into Clinical Insights has led to:
• 61% faster answers at the point of care: With Claude Haiku 4.5 time-to-first-insight dropped substantially, with streaming responses that clinicians can read as they are generated.
• Rapid clinician adoption: Usage of Clinical Insights has doubled since its core engine was moved to Claude, making it the most rapidly adopted AI capability on the Elation platform.
• High‑quality chart synthesis with faster rates: Internal evaluations show that Claude understands the nuances of patient charts more accurately and responds faster than Elation’s previous approach, enabling safer, more timely insights to support decision making at the point of care.
• Workflow‑aligned, personalized experiences for primary care: Clinicians can personalize Clinical Insights with Quick Action buttons (such as “summarize last three visits”) and custom instructions, choose automatic or on‑demand generation, and move fluidly between the AI summary, the patient’s full record, and their visit note.

“Anthropic was a natural choice for Elation and is a trusted integration as we enhance our native intelligence in ways that are transformational for primary care,” said Fong in a statement. “We chose Claude, powered by Anthropic, for the strength of its model and its reputation for responsible AI. Together, we’re using AI thoughtfully, not for novelty, but to deliver clinical-first intelligence that reduces burden, keeps physicians in control, and moves primary care forward.”
