The Dallas Cowboys are moving on from one of their prominent defensive players.
Trevon Diggs will be released by the Cowboys after being placed on waivers Tuesday, The Athletic’s Jane Slater reported.
If he goes unclaimed, the cornerback will become a free agent.
Diggs is in the second year of a five-year, $97 million contract that made him one of the highest-paid defensive backs in the NFL.
The 27-year-old has played in just eight games this season and has seen a decline in his play since suffering a torn ACL back in September 2023. He led the NFL in interceptions back in 2021 with 11.
Dallas selected Diggs in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
